OUR HERITAGE
August Sandgren (1893-1934)
Established in 1920, the company is named after its founder, the legendary bookbinder and box maker, August Sandgren. As the preeminent bookbinder and box-maker of his era, he was a true icon on the scale of Kaare Klint, Arne Jacobsen and Hans J. Wegner. He did for bookbinding and box-making what they did for Danish design furniture.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Durability is sustainability
We craft our boxes, covers and holders to last a lifetime - in design, choice of materials and in craftsmanship. To us this is the best way to reduce waste and over-consumption. In addition most of the materials we use are natural surplus materials sourced from exclusive partners in the European furniture and fashion industry. Apart from being better for our planes, the use of surplus materials gives access to materials of a quality much higher than otherwise available sourcing at the same price point.
